Important Concert Attire and Marching Band Info

Dear SCN Choir, Orchestra, and Band Students and Families,

As school approaches, we want to let you know about important information and dates that affect all SCN music department students and families:

•  SCN Music Department Website www.scnmusic.com:  Most communication, schedules and other important information for students and families is available on our department website.  We suggest that you register both your family and your student(s) by following the link for email updates on the left of the home page.

• Marching Band Camp:  Marching Band camp is required for all band students.  Camp starts on Tuesday, August 18 from 5:30-9:30 pm.  All the camp dates and times as well as other rehearsal dates/times are listed on the department website.

• 2009-2010 Concert Attire/Uniform Requirements for all music students are now posted on our website on the “What to Wear” page.  Some items will be available at the school store this year.  However, students will need to attend Uniform/Concert Attire Fitting Days (see below) to be fitted for concert attire, marching band uniforms and marching band shoes.

• Returning students—check your uniforms and concert attire to make sure you have what you need and that your uniform and concert attire fits you!  If something no longer fits, order what you need and plan to attend Fitting Days.

• Freshmen and New Students:  Check out the concert attire/uniform requirements, order what you need, and plan to attend uniform/concert attire fitting days.

◦ Payment is required during Fitting Days.  Payments may be made by check or money order made payable to St. Charles North High School.  (If you bring cash, bring exact change only).

2009 Uniform/Concert Attire Fitting Days:

▪ Wednesday, August 19, 2009  5-9 pm

▪ Thursday, August 20, 2009  5-9 pm

▪ Monday, August 24, 2009  5-9 pm

▪ Wednesday, August 26, 2009  5:30-9 pm (Make-up fittings)

Choir and Orchestra students:  you must come during one of the fitting times to be fit for your concert attire if you are a new student. Returning students need only attend if they need new items.

◦ All Band Students:  Fitting times are during marching band camp.   If your parents want to attend with you while you have your concert attire fitted, they should plan to attend after 8 pm.  Even if you are a returning student with no new needs, all band students pay a uniform cleaning fee of $7.40, due on Fitting Day.

Volunteers needed:  Parent support is an important key to our department’s success.  Our immediate need is for volunteers for one or more days of Uniform/Concert Attire Fitting Days—parents, grandparents or teen or adult siblings are needed to help guide, fit, greet, do paperwork, phone calls, and tack up marching band uniforms.  Please email scnmusicuniforms@sbcglobal.net with the date(s) and time(s) you can volunteer.

• We also need volunteers for football games, concerts throughout the year, music department social events, fundraising opportunities and other areas of our department—these opportunities will be posted on the Friends of Music Page on the website soon.

• Friends of Music:  Our SCN Music Parent/Community Booster organization is called Friends of Music (FOM).  Look for the FOM Link under “Parents” at www.scnmusic.com.
